Can "stress" improve insomnia?

A recent study found that covering quilts can effectively relieve insomnia symptoms.

Researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden found that falling asleep with a heavy blanket (6-8kg) can significantly improve sleep in just a month, cure most insomnia patients within a year, and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, according to the study published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine journal of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

The study included 120 patients with insomnia for more than 2 months and any of the following mental diseases, including severe depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder or hyperactivity disorder.

The participants were randomly assigned to two groups at a ratio of 1:1. One group was covered with heavy blankets, 6-8 kg (when the participants felt that 8 kg was too heavy, they could replace it with 6 kg blankets), and the other group was covered with light blankets, 1.5 kg, as the control group. Study their sleep status. The results showed that after 4 weeks, the effective rate of insomnia improvement of participants using heavy blankets was 59.4% (insomnia severity index decreased by more than 50%), and the complete remission rate was 42.2% (no clinically significant insomnia), while the effective rate of insomnia improvement of participants using light blankets was only 5.4%, and the complete remission rate was only 3.6%.

Insomnia predicts mental problems

Insomnia is mainly characterized by difficulty in falling asleep or maintaining sleep, and affects normal activities during the day. Patients usually feel tired and show anxiety and depression emotionally. At present, many people still think that insomnia is not a disease, but in fact, insomnia belongs to the ranks of mental illness. According to research, insomnia is one of the most common mental disorders. 30% of adults have symptoms of insomnia, and 6% of adults meet the diagnostic criteria for insomnia. Insomnia is even more frequent-70% of people with bipolar disorder and 60% of people with anxiety and depression suffer from insomnia. Therefore, if the symptoms of insomnia are serious, we must pay attention to timely medical treatment.

Sleep-management is important

Sleep accounts for about 1/3 of a person's life, and sleep quality is closely related to physical health. However, few people pay attention to their own sleep and carry out sleep monitoring and management. Nowadays, the function of smart bracelet sleep monitoring has become popular, and sleep monitoring smartwatches have become standard. However, friends are recommended to buy more reliable brands, such as Garmin, Fitbit, Veepoo, etc., which are good at sleep monitoring, which can monitor the whole cycle of users' sleep, and then carry out scientific and reasonable analysis and feedback.

Taking Veepoo RIG as example, it supports scientific sleep monitoring, and in addition to supporting accurate sleep monitoring as mentioned above, RIG also supports round-the-clock sleep tracking and sleep monitoring during lunch breaks. In addition, RIG can also be combined with blood oxygen and HRV monitoring to help users screen for breathing problems during sleep (such as people who snore seriously, possible apnea problems, hypoxia problems, etc.), and protect users' sleep health.
